Planets of the Universe, An Anthem to Impermanence

Along with Go Your Own Way and Silver Springs, Planets of the Universe by Stevie Nicks is another audial result of the acrimonious Nicks/Buckingham split, and was written during the same period. Appearing on the Nicks 2002 album Trouble in Shangrai-Li, she initially omitted the last verse, deeming it too harsh towards Buckingham. It was eventually released in its full fury, going through a further metamorphosis with this curiously energizing club remix, and is a veritable anthem to impermanence. I think I’m fond of this version for its thundery/spacey sound effects..
